Documenting a generated audio handoff

Beitrag von EllaPi »

Has anyone taught a practical lesson that compares lossless audio with compressed versions of the same source? I plan to use a short generated instrumental and keep its original export available to everyone. The first task would ask students to write listening notes before opening a visual display. I found mp3 to spectrogram as a possible reference while planning the visual part. The next step would compare export settings while keeping the passage and playback level consistent. Students should not assume that a difference in the display proves a problem with the source. I am considering a worksheet that records what was heard, how it was exported, and remaining uncertainties. I would assess the quality of the explanation instead of asking students to improve the audio. Students would record the software used for each export so that their comparison can be repeated later. How would you keep this lesson manageable for students learning audio formats for the first time?
